The Gönnersdorf Plaquette is of schist, and was recovered from the Gönnersdorf site in Germany, a Magdalenian site about 12,600 years old.
A faithful reader recently pointed out that this photograph is a fake, and is actually simply a mockup of the real Gonnersdorf Plaquette in the same shape and form, but pretty clearly with a photoshopped background. Since it has been up for quite some time, I'm going to leave it here, but be aware that this photo is a fake.
