Sound and Light from the SAA Meetings
The Society for American Archaeology Meetings are held annually at various large cities throughout the New World. They are usually attended by 3,000 archaeologists, including professional cultural resource managers, college professors, students, independent scholars, Native Americans, and others interested in the study of the past in whatever form that happens to take. In 2005, the SAA meetings were held in Salt Lake City, Utah. When I was there, I spoke to several colleagues and asked them to describe what they liked and didn't like about the SAA meeetings. Here is a sampling of what they said.
