Advisory Council on Historic Preservation

Definition: The Advisory Council on Historic Preservation is an independent political body of the United States government created under the National Historic Preservation Act, to advise the President and Congress on historic preservation issues. Under the current Section 106 guidelines, the ACHP only steps in when normal Section 106 issues between Federal agencies, State Historic Preservation Officers, Tribal Historic Preservation Officers, and others cannot otherwise be resolved.
