Andean Foot Plow

Using the Andean footplow (chakitaqlla) to construct raised fields in the Community of Yasin, Huatta

Clark Erickson
Definition: The Aymara are a modern cultural group of the Andes in Peru, and the descendants of the Tiwanaku Empire in the Lake Titicaca region of Bolivia and Peru (400-1500 AD).

Because of this, the Aymara have contributed to several research projects about the Tiwanaku civilization, including the reconstructions of the agricultural methods conducted by Clark Erickson and associates in the 1980s.
