Be'er Sheva (Israel)

Definition: Be'er Sheva is a modern town in the Negev Desert of Israel, and also the name of a Chalcolithic settlement dated to the 4th millennium BC. The site is made up of several small hamlets along the river Be'er Sheva, all excavated during the 1950s and 1960s, and consisting of small semi-subterranean structures. The site is most famous for a collection of ivory figurines.
