Definition: The name El Castillo ("the Castle" in Spanish) has been given to at least four sites that I'm aware of. The first, called more properly Cerro del Castillo, is a high altitude Early Bronze Age isolated farmstead in Frías de Albarracín, Teruel, Spain. The second (also called Maiden of the Rock) is a 135-foot tall building at the Maya site of Xunantunich, Belize. The Kukulcán pyramid at Chichén Itzá (Mexico) has also been called The Castle. And the fourth is a Paleolithic art cave site firmly connected to modern humans, 36,000 years BP, in Spain. There are probably other sites called this, too.
