The main temple of the city of Kushinagar, India is called Mahaparinirvan Mandir; adjacent to it are the ruins of the original Buddhist monastery, and it is the place where, according to tradition, Gautama Buddha attained Mahaparinirvana, release from reincarnation, about 400 BC or so.
