Definition: Chachapoyas culture is the name given to an Andean civilization, located in the Amazon rainforest, and one of the rivals to the Incas, between about AD 800 to 1470. The best known site is Kuelap, discovered in 1834 by Don Juan Crisóstomo Nieto.
