Chalchuapa (El Salvador)

Definition: Chalchuapa is the name of a Maya civilization site in El Salvador, occupied from about 1200 BC to the Spanish conquest. Investigations at the site were conducted by the University of Pennsylvania, led by Robert J. Sharer. Links to Copán appear to have occurred in the Late Classic period.
