Definition: Your basic dictionary will tell you that diaspora refers specifically to the resettlement of the Jewish people outside of Palestine after the Babylonian exile. Archaeologists use the term to refer to any large scale migration of people, whether voluntary or forced, such as the African diaspora into the Americas or the South Asian emigration to the Pacific coast.
