East Wenatchee Site (USA)

By K. Kris Hirst, About.com Guide

Definition: The East Wenatchee site, also known as the Richey-Roberts site, is a cache of finished and unfinished Clovis projectile points, found in an apple orchard in Washington State by ditch diggers in 1987. East Wenatchee is one of a very few cache sites found in the US to date; and their function is assumed to have been intended as temporary storage butt were subsequently lost. East Wenatchee was also the focus of much controversy concerning its excavation. Other Clovis caches include the Anzick site in Montana, the Fenn Cache in Utah and the Rummells-Maske site in Iowa.
