Remote sensing is another area of great growth in archaeological research. Remote sensing, also called geophysical prospection, is any of several methods of seeing what is beneath the surface of the ground, without actually disturbing the ground. Remote sensing is used in place of, or as support of, more traditional archaeological excavation techniques.
