Howick (UK)

By , About.com Guide

Definition: The Howick Mesolithic site is one of the earliest recorded residential structures in Britain. Found by amateur archaeologists eroding out of a cliff, the site has been intensively investigated by the University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne, who have recorded hearths dated to circa 7800 BC associated with a hut showing evidence of three occupations. The site also contains a Bronze Age component.
