The Nenets are nomadic reindeer herders, who have lived in Siberia for hundreds of years. Yuri Khudi is a Nenets reindeer herder whose family discovered Lyuba, a 40,000 year old woolly mammoth, lying on the frozen bed of a river in the Yamal-Nenets region of Siberia.
Scientists investigating the discovery of Lyuba spent several days with the Nenets reindeer herders, caught in a blizzard. Photos taken during that period reveal much about what it's like to live in the Yamal peninsula today.
