The Nenets Set up a Chum

The Nenets and other nomadic pastoralists of the Eurasian arctic move frequently, and their houses must be easily moved and sealed tight against the harsh weather. This kind of tent or wikiup is called a chum (pronounced choom), and it is erected using a set of long straight poles and then covering them with an animal skin tarp.
