Definition: Classical archaeologist and museum curator Winifred Lamb conducted work at several sites in the Aegean and Turkey, looking for connections between the islands and the Anatolian mainland. Educated at Cambridge, Lamb excavated several Late Bronze Age and Archaic sites on the islands of Lesbos and Chios, as well as three seasons at Kusura at Afyon. Her main claim to fame was as Honorary Keeper of Greek and Roman Antiquities at the Fitzwilliam Museum at Cambridge from 1920 to 1958.
