The Staffordshire Hoard is a 1500-piece collection of gold and silver objects, some encrusted with precious gems, found by a metal detectorist in an agricultural field near Birmingham, in Staffordshire, England. The collection, thought to represent the private collection of an elite male warrior of the Anglo-Saxon, likely dates to the 7th century AD.

These photos were taken during the press conference announcing the discovery, on September 24, 2009, at the Birmingham Museum.
