One unique part of the 2007 excavations at Sipán are the public archaeology efforts, which in part direct the location and process of the excavations. The project is being conducted partly to create a suitable museum space and tourist destination for Sipán. At the same time, a film company is at the site producing a documentary about archaeological investigations at the site.
