Definition: The Norton culture refers to one of several cultures in the North American arctic related to the Small Tool Tradition (like Denbigh). The sites are recorded from about 400 BC-1000 AD south of the Bering Strait of Alaska, and between 400 BC and 300 AD north of the Bering Strait. Artifacts from their villages include pottery, ground slate and oil lamps; they mostly hunted seal.
