Nri Kingdom (Igbo)

By , About.com Guide

Definition:

The Nri kingdom (also called Igbo) was a cultural group in Nigeria during the 10th century AD. Nri is the earliest of three copper mining cultures in West Africa (the others are Ife from the 12th through 15th century and Benin.

Beginning the 15th century), the Nri used the lost wax method to produce cast bronze artifacts, such as those recovered from the Igbo Ukwu site of southeastern Nigeria.
