Definition:

The Ostionoid culture is the name given to the pottery-making horticulturalists of the Caribbean Sea between about AD 500-1000. The period follows the Salanoid culture, and the difference between the two appears to be the breakdown of connection between the Caribbean islands and the South American continent visible in the Salanoid collections.
