Two sets of fossilized footprints of a possible Homo erectus or Homo ergaster have been discovered at the FwJj14E site, near the modern town of Ileret in Kenya. Research has been conducted at the site since 2005 by the Koobi Fora Research and Training Program organized by Rutgers University and the National Museums of Kenya.
The FwJj14E site is an ancient human Lower Paleolithic site in the Rift Valley region of Kenya. Its Homo erectus occupation lies within the Okote Member of the Koobi Fora Formation, in the Lake Turkana region. The footprints were laid down approximately 1.51 to 1.53 million years ago.
