Definition: The paleontological site of Pasalar is a very early (Middle Miocene) hominoid site in Turkey. Occupied about 15 million years ago by the ancient ape Griphopithecus, the site was excavated beginning in the mid-1980s by Berna Alpagut of the University of Ankara and colleagues Peter Andrews and Lawrence Martin.
