Definition: The Pit Grave Culture is the relatively unimaginative name given to a transitional Neolithic to Bronze Age culture of the 4th-3rd millennia BC in eastern Europe. Similar in time, but a bit earlier than the Afanasyevo culture, Pit Grave pastoralists occasionally included wheeled vehicles in their kurgan-type burials.
