Definition: French archaeologist Victor Place was a nineteenth century scholar of Mesopotamia and Assyria. He worked at the site of Khorsabad between 1852-1855; and is best known for his detailed work at Nineveh, Ninive et l'Assyrie, published in three volumes. Many of his finds are now at the Louvre and British Museums.
