Definition: American archaeologist James B. Pritchard excavated in Israel, Canaan, Egypt, Assyria, and Babylon. Long associated with the University of Pennsylvania Museum, he excavated at Tell es-Sa’idiyeh in Jordan and Sarafand (ancient Sarepta) in Lebanon.
