Definition: The people of the Pucara culture lived in the southern Andes between about 100 BC-AD 100. Their largest temples were on the southern shore of Lake Titicaca, and they are known for stone sculpture and a distinctive polychrome pottery shaped like human faces and cats. The type site of Pucara covers an area of 42 km, and has pyramidal platforms and temples with semi-subterranean courtyards.
