Definition: Hormuzd Rassam [1826-1910] was born in Mosul, in what is now Iraq. He was an Assyriologist who learned his craft under A.H. Layard and Henry Rawlinson, and worked for the British Museum at Nineveh, Nimrud, Balawat and Sippar.
