Red Bay (Canada)

By , About.com Guide

Definition: Red Bay is an inlet located on the coast of Labrador. Between 1530 and 1600, Basque whalers from France and Spain launched whaling ships and processed whale meat and blubber from this harbor. Excavations at Red Bay by the Memorial University of Newfoundland have included the shipwreck of the San Juan, sunk in Red Bay Harbor in 1565.
