Definition: South African paleontologist John Robinson was an assistant of Robert Broom in the late 1940s, and worked at sites such as Swartkrans, Kromdraai and Sterkfontein. He was with Broom in 1947 when they discovered the nearly complete fossil skull of an Australopithicus africanus known as Mrs. Ples.
