William T. Sanders

Definition: American archaeologist William T. Sanders is a Mesoamericanist, having recorded thousands of sites in the Valley of Mexico in his fifty-plus year career. He is associated with the development of the important theoretical concepts of settlement pattern, cultural evolution and cultural ecology, as well as innumerable archaeological projects throughout Latin America such as Copan and Kaminaljuyu; and, of course, the Basin of Mexico survey. He is retired, and currently professor emeritus at Pennsylvania State University.
