Definition: The San Jacinto 1 archaeological site is in the Lower Magdalena valley of Colombia, and consists of one or more deeply buried sedentary fishing villages dated between 6000 and 5700 years ago. Very early ceramics, fiber-tempered and elaborately decorated, were recovered from the site, among the earliest appearances of ceramics in South America.
