The Iron Age site of Sant'Angelo Muxaro is in the Agrigento region of Sicily and was a Greek colony. Two of the important elements of this site include an enormous cut stone necropolis dated to the 9th century BC, and the "Tomb of the Prince," which has architecture reminiscent of Mycenaean tholos tombs. The Early Iron Age in this region is sometimes called Sant'Angelo Muxaro; the site of Monte Polizzo is dated to this period.
