Seljuk Dynasty

Definition: The Seljuk Dynasty was an Islamic empire which occupied central Asia and the middle east between the 11th and 14th centuries AD. Based in Isfahan, the Seljuks also had capitals at Merv, Nishapur, and Rayy. The empire stretched throughout most of the middle east until it was splintered by attacks from the Mongol hordes in the 14th century.
