Definition: The archaeological site of Settefinestre is located in the Tuscany region of Italy, and contains a 15th century villa built on top of the ruins of a Roman villa and farmstead. The faunal studies of the Roman occupations of site, excavated by Andrea Carandini in the 1970s, were used to build a Marxist model of Roman society, with emphasis on differential access to certain kinds of foods (specifically pigs) by the wealthier individuals.
