Definition: American archaeologist Yosihiko H. Sinoto has conducted excavations and surveys throughout Polynesia including Tahiti, the Marquesas, the Australs, the Tuamotus and Mangareva. Dr. Sinoto is currently Senior Archeologist in the Hawaiian and Pacific Studies Department at the Bishop Museum. His best known work is probably investigating the human origins in Polynesia, including work at sites such as Pu'u Ali'i and Maupiti, sometimes in conjunction with Kenneth Emory.
