Definition:
Sirikwa Holes is the local name for depressions found throughout the western highlands of Kenya and in northern Tanzania; they represent late Iron Age hut locations.
The Sirikwa were iron-working pastoralists between 1400 and 1700 AD (their descendants still live in Kenya and Tanzania). Sites with Sirikwa Holes include Hyrax Hill in Kenya, excavated by Mary Leakey, and Engaruka in Tanzania, excavated by Hans Reck.
