Sunda is the name given to the amalgamated Pleistocene-age continent made up of Southeast Asia and Indonesian Islands, and separated from Sahul (Greater Australia) by the deep Sahul Strait.
The strait made it impossible for people to cross from Sunda to Sahul without a boat; and since some sites in Australia date to at least 45,000 years old, that's a pretty amazing notion.
