Definition: The Tang Dynasty in China lasted between AD 618 and 907, with its capital sited at Chang'an on the Silk Road. It is considered one of the high points of Chinese history, equal or perhaps superior in importance to the Han Dynasty, with a blossoming of literature and art, trade connections with India and further west, and including a large territory. Followed by the Song Dynasty.
