Definition: The name Timber Grave Culture (or Srubnaya) refers to a group of pastoralists who lived in substantial villages in the arid steppes and semi-desert areas of Asia at the end of the Bronze Age in the second millennium BC. The Srubnaya homeland was from the Urals to the Dneiper River in Ukraine; and occupations date between 1800-1200 BC. Work has recently been conducted in the Samara Valley of Russia focusing on the Srubnaya, conducted by the Institute for Ancient Equestrian Studies.
