By , About.com Guide

Definition: The archaeological site of Tlachuachero is a Chantuto phase site in Chiapas state, Mexico. A large shellmound identified by Barbara Voorhies in 1973 and test excavated several times in the intervening years, Tlachuachero provides evidence for Archaic period shellfish cooking techniques, and the use of shell mounds as occupation locations during the Archaic. Dates from Tlachuachero fall between 3600-2500 BC.
