Wadi Feinan (Jordan)

By K. Kris Hirst, About.com

Definition: Wadi Feinan is the name of a wadi, or dry valley, in Jordan, where a number of important Chalcolithic and Bronze Age sites are located. Wadi Feinan is located near one of the largest known copper mines in the Levant; and the wadi was a fairly stable source of water. The wadi has been the focus of a large multi-year project by the British Institute at Amman for Archaeology and History and the University College London, with an international team led by Katherine I. Wright, Mohammed Najjar and G. W. Barker.
