Need to understand the Vedic people

Tectonic shifts caused the Vindhyachal range to rise. As these mountain ranges rose and fell, water from the Saraswati got diverted Eastward to a river that we now refer to as Yamuna. Yamuna ‘stole’ from Saraswati and grew into a mightier river. To conclude my submission, a series of natural and human factors could have led to the demise of the Indus Valley Civilization in its original locations. Natural and human caused factors, including repeated attacks by a marauding pastoral-patriarchal groups, would have forced a settled population to migrate out of the region Eastward as well as Westward. (this is my third and last submission)

Need to understand the Vedic people

Second, the question is: Did these conflicts lead to the demise of the Indus Valley Civilization? Many hypotheses have been advanced. One of them talks about over-cultivation leading to the loss of soil fertility. The other explanation is that the river Saraswati dried up. Recent satellite pictures have revealed the dried bed of a large river that existed, flowing down from the Himalayas South-west through present day Rajasthan and Gujarat to the Arabian Sea. Indus Valley settlements existed on the banks of this large and fertile river. Lets call this river Saraswati. (there was and is no Saraswati that meets the Ganga at Allahabad) (please see my third and last submission on this)

Need to understand the Vedic people

First, it is important to understand the significant difference between the Vedic people and the non-Vedic Indus Valley Civilization. The Vedic people were essentially Pastoral-Patriarchal in their socioeconomic outlook. The Indus Valley - an already settled civilization - was an agricultural settlement, and interestingly, with strong matriarchal socioeconomic outlook. There were conflicts between, broadly, these two socioeconomic groups. These conflicts are referred to in various ways in the Vedic manuscripts. For instance, Indra is supposed to have defeated the Asuras who live in Hariupa (apparently Harappa). “Asuras” have been wrongly interpreted to indication relationship to Assyrians. That may not be true because Asuras are repeatedly referred to as those who were agricultural-matriarchal in the socioeconomic outlook. Second, the question is: Did these conflicts lead to the demise of the Indus Valley Civilization? (please see my next submission)

The Caucasian Invasions

I would like to know about the relation of the Caucasian Invasions to the Aryan subject matter. I understand the Caucasian Invasions occurred circa 2000 B.C. and overran Europe destroying the existent civilizations.

Common Sense

Guest Dave- horses ARE indigenous to india. Look up Marwari horse and get your facts right before making such outrageous claims. Sanskrit and Vedic literature has been carbon dated to be tens of thousands of years older than ANY latin scripture- that is FACT. it is true invaders came, but that was much longer after and the very first invaders were muslim and arabic in origin, NOT white or so called Aryan. as rightly mentioned in the article, aryan means noble and not 'fair skinned' nor does it give reference to any caste. india has been ravaged throughout history and parts of our culture such as vedic maths and physics (yes, the Ancient Sanskrit word for Atom is Parmanu and Indians created the concept of zero as a number) and even Medical knowledge (look up Ayurvedic medicine) had been taken or by invaders from the west. the idea that there was an invasion to establish culture, in my opinion is not only 100% wrong, but also racist and derogatory. indian culture is much older than weste

Aryan invasion

The first egyptian (kings) pharaos were indo-aryans! see my homepage: www.doriswolf.com Ulitmative Beweise (Ultimate evidences) Doris Wolf : ›Der Kampf gegen Weisheit und Macht der matriarchalen Urkultur Ägyptens‹ (in German) (The Fight against Wisdom and Might of Egypts Primary, Matriarchal Culture)

confusing

i agree with aryan intrusion not invansion in indus velly.if arya invaded indus velly why didn't occupy the whole settlement of civilization.their hymns do not say anything about cities like indus velly .where did all people and their script and lunguage of civilization disappeared .these all are mistrious

Why it's the truth

The Aryan invasion theory is true if you use your common sense. As far as the languages are concerned, the area with the greatest number of indo-European languages is the most likely common source of where they came from. Secondly, only the highest caste system has traceable DNA to Europeans. Third, horses are not indigenous to India, and yet a huge part of the Aryan culture.... I personally believe that the timeframe of 1500 bc is what is wrong with the theory, and should be changed to 4000-6000 bc.

Gypsies prove It is the other way around

We have all heard of the Gypsies coming from India and settling in Europe. The Gypsies of course remain as the only documented case of any migration between Europe and India. The linguistic evidence clearly suggests that Sanskrit is the more complete language a fact that is not denied by linguistic anthropologists. Many word complexes seem to have migrated to Europe from Sanskrit incompletely or in fragments. Europeans do seem to have a very rich history of which they should be proud of and come to grips with. Europeans may in fact have some Aryan blood in them, some European languages are very similar to Sanskrit most notably Lithuanian languages.

confused

Archaelogical evidence does seem to indicate, however faintly, of an aryan migration. However, Hinduism can hardly be attributed to these so called 'aryans'. Most of the Important gods of Hinduism are dark skinned, like Siva, Vishnu, Krishna Rama etc. Also, the gods of Indus valley civilization, undoubtedly of dravidian civilization were the original models for later hindu gods, which proves that Hinduism orginated from the Dravidians.

I disagree with the Aryan invasion theor

I think it was the other way around. Civilization moved out of India to west Asia. The reason why people in the north of India are slightly lighter than the people in the south is because they live in a colder climate and are farther away from the equator. It is all evolutionary and has nothing to do with the mythical Aryans. Who on earth were they?
—Guest sheela

confusion

There should be little confusion that most agree is that aryans came to that region around 1500bc. Next carbon dating puts Indus Civilisation based on carbon dating at around 3500bc, so sophisticated irrigation and town planning was aware then, and the clincher should be that symbols, letters and geographical descriptions in the vedas, date back as far as 5000bc. So aryan invasion some millenia later is mute.

Disagree

Any theory that puts forward the idea that the white race has a separate origin must be discouraged due to it being a contentious matter.
—Guest 153
