Archaeology Book Catalogue: Regional Studies

This category of the catalogue is set up to describe books that are on special regions of the world, countries or adjacent areas. At the moment, this category will point up the shallowness of the range of books I've seen to date; the list is weak in everything except the archaeology of the Americas. Look for that to change in the coming months.

Asia
While I haven't seen a lot of Asian texts yet, here are a few that I have seen. Look for this section to grow in the coming months.

• Sacred Texts and Buried Treasures
• The Archaeology of Difference

Africa
Only a handful of recent books on archaeology of the African countries have reached my doorstep to date; luckily, what there is is choice.

• The Berbers
• Digging through Darkness
• The Rise and Fall of Swahili States
• The Soapstone Birds of Great Zimbabwe

Americas
As your Guide for Archaeology is located in the midst of the North American continent, it would only seem logical that I would get a lot of books on the Americas, and indeed that has been the case.

• South America
• Central America
• North America
• American Southwest
• American Southeast

Europe
Only a handful of books on European archaeology have reached my desk to date.

• Ancient Ireland Before the Celts
• Fragmentation in Archaeology
• Grahame Clarke: An Intellectual Biography
• Balkan Prehistory

The Near East
So far, my Near Eastern archaeology collection is a pitiful two texts, and both rather stretch the definition. Look for more in the coming months.

• Cuneiform and the Writing of History
• Imports and Immigrants: Near Eastern Contacts with Iron Age Crete
