Definition: The archaeological site of Denisova Cave is located on the Anui River, in the Altai region of Siberia and cut into the face of a steep limestone cliff. The site's paleolithic occupation was discovered in the 1970s by Russian archaeologists, and excavated in the 1980s. Radiocarbon dates of the Mousterian levels are between 39,000 and 46,000 years b.p.
